Now open for Bookings – our ultra-low carbon Eco Pod
Completely isolated and buried in the middle of estate is our Eco Pod. This ultra-low carbon holiday experience offers a terrific location with a host of opportunities for a real highlands experience.
Powered almost entirely by solar and wind energy, there is still plenty of comfort with tremendous views from both inside and out - even directly from the full-size bed as the sun comes up. There is a lovely wood burner in the corner for keeping warm, along with a full-size shower, basin, and w/c.
There is full Wi-Fi and a Freesat TV also.
Kitchenette area contains fridge, sink, hob, and microwave.
All heating for the Pod is via the woodburning stove, for which ample logs are supplied.
Outside the Pod there is a large decking area with an outdoor covered kitchen zone and a woodburning fire pit for a barbecue meal.
For those seeking a true off-grid experience there is even a warm water outdoor shower – with water pumped by solar energy direct from one of our pure mountain springs.
Discreet lighting outside means you can enjoy the outdoor aspects at any time of year and in any weather – if it is not too wet to keep the fire pit going!
If guests need a lot of hot water or additional heating, there is an automatic backup generator which will operate to ensure your electricity supply remains intact.
Note – the Pod is 2 miles inside the estate, along forest tracks, which are accessible to all vehicles – however it can be bumpy and muddy depending on time of year. During the coldest winter periods from mid-December to mid-March the possibility of snow means that we recommend visitors have an SUV or similar – preferably with 4-wheel drive – however even if you have a less able vehicle we can always get you there in an estate vehicle if all else fails!
Whilst we do accept dogs to the Eco Pod please note that due to the remote woodland location there is no securely fenced area. In addition of course the interior of the Pod is very compact so it would not be recommended for those with more than one dog and/or larger breeds.
